GameU Session 10: Crowdfunding Crazy Ideas

Sometimes the seemingly “craziest” ideas are the most powerful and transformative - but all too often, crazy ideas aren’t given the opportunity to be explored. Crowdfunding has opened the doors for creators of all backgrounds to bring their ideas to life! Not least of which are ideas that would have otherwise been too experimental, risky, or “out there” to find funding via more traditional means. However, in addition to the many challenges, complications, and risk of crowdfunding, experimental ideas face a number of unique issues and complications - many of which are not well documented or widely discussed.  
The biofeedback horror game, Nevermind, is known for, among other things, its two Kickstarter campaigns - one failed and one successful. However, the story and journey of Nevermind and crowdfunding goes much deeper than that. This talk discusses Nevermind’s crowdfunding journey and some of the unique challenges creators of experimental projects can face when it comes to crowdfunding - from finding the right message to sharing it with the world… and everything in-between.
