In this talk, Kaho Abe and Nicholas Fortugno discuss real-world games they created and what the process looks like to develop those games. Both Abe and Fortugno offer case studies of their work, looking at the specific challenges that the real-world design of the games created. The session ends with an open discussion about the practice of real-world game design.

Kaho Abe is a Game Designer and Media Artist specializing in multiplayer, physical digital games with custom controllers. She is the Artist in Residence at the NYU-Poly Game Innovation Lab where she teaches students how to design and build custom game controllers. Currently she is exploring the intersection between wearable technology and games, more specifically costumes as game controllers.
